Carl Edwards won the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway on Sunday afternoon thanks to the bump and run, a move he used on Kyle Busch in the final turn. It was Edwards' second win of the season.

Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson battle early

Kevin Harvick started the race on the pole, and when the race went green, he shot out in front, with Jimmie Johnson in second. Harvick led the first 20 laps, but on Lap 21 Johnson finally got around him to take his first lead of the race.

Johnson opened up a big lead until Edwards caught him around Lap 55. Edwards was unable to make the pass though, as some lapped cars got in his way. A few laps later, he was finally able to make the pass and retake the lead.

Edwards laps half the field

Edwards was leading on Lap 90 when drivers began to make green flag pit stops. After pit stops cycled through, Edwards reclaimed the lead, this time with Busch pressuring him from the second position.

Edwards had it all, as he had the lead. He had also lapped half of the field when on Lap 157 the first caution of the race came out for debris.

That allowed the field to make their second pit stops of the race, and Busch won the race off put road, with Edwards exiting in second. Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin got a penalty for an uncontrolled tire meaning that he had to start at the back of the field on the restart.

Busch gets a great restart as Edwards spins his tires

Busch led the field back to green, and he got a great restart, as Edwards, who restarted in second, spun his tires. Edwards fought back, and finally caught up to him on Lap 174 to retake the lead for the third time.

Edwards had the lead on Lap 234 when Harvick went around him to go to the lead. Harvick was leading on Lap 251 when the third caution came out, this one for debris in Turn 2.

Cautions breed cautions

The green flag was not out for very long before Tony Stewart and Joey Logano made contact, bringing out another yellow flag. It was the Busch brothers dominating the race, but the final caution came out on Lap 358, which allowed drivers to make their final pit stops. Kurt Busch who had been having a great run, had problems on his stop, and lost five spots, leaving brother Kyle all alone up front.

The final turn gives drama

Kyle Busch was lead the field back to green, and he had the lead when he took the white flag, but that was when Edwards made his move. Exiting Turn 2, Edwards got a run and tried to pass Kyle Busch, but was unable to complete the pass, as Kyle Busch cleared him. Edwards gave it another shot in Turn 4, when he gave Kyle Busch a bump, which moved him out of the groove, and allowed Edwards to pass him and take the win, his second win of the season.
