Weekend Notebook

- Jeff Gordon will get another start in the Hendrick Motorsports #88 car while Dale Earnhardt Jr. is still recovering from concussion-like symptoms that have sidelined him recently. In his three races this season, Gordon has averaged an 18th-place finish, with his best result being at Indianapolis, where he finished in the 13th position.

- Gordon's former car, the Hendrick Motorsports #24 car, is still being driven by rookie Chase Elliott, who despite some strong finishes still does not have a win this season. He does have six top-five finishes, which has him in 12th place in the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings, which keeps him in the season-ending race for the championship.

- The series points leader is Brad Keselowski, who has four wins this season, tied for most in the series with Kurt Busch. In his career at Bristol, Keselowski has two wins in six races, with his most recent win being March of 2012.

- The most recent winner at Bristol is Carl Edwards, who led 276 laps to hold off Earnhardt Jr. in this year's spring race. Edwards has two career wins at Bristol in 17 Sprint Cup starts. He has started from the pole position twice in his career.

- Joey Logano has won the last two fall races at Bristol, and will be looking to become the first driver since Darrell Waltrip to accomplish the feat. Waltrip did it from 1981-1983. Those are Logano's only two wins at the track in 15 starts.

Pick 'Em:

Every week, members of the VAVEL NASCAR team pick which driver they think will do the best that weekend. Here are the current standings, as well as this week's picks.

Mark Smith

Driver: Carl Edwards

Reason: "The driver of the #19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota is always strong on the 'Fastest Half Mile In The World'. Edwards notched another victory at this track last season and I expect him to be in Victory Lane again this Saturday night on the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway."

Stevie Larson

Driver: Joey Logano

Reason: "Logano has won the last two fall races at Bristol, and is looking for his third straight. While he hasn't had too much success so far this year, with just one win, he will pick up his second this weekend at the Last Great Colliseum."

Stephen Furst

Driver: Kyle Busch

Reason: "Busch always is a force to be reckoned with at Bristol. Especially the night races. Expect him to break out the broom and sweep the weekend under the lights."
