Houston Rockets Seeking Jeremy Lin Trade; Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers Interested

As the Houston Rockets are seeking to trade more pieces to open up cap room, the Philadelphia 76ers have expressed strong interest in trading for Jeremy Lin, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

The Rockets want more cap space to pursue a superstar. They have already agreed to trade Omer Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans, freeing up over $14.8 million in cap space. Jeremy Lin has the same exact contract.

Houston was hoping to land Carmelo Anthony after their meeting on Wednesday, but recent reports are saying that Anthony is leaning towards re-signing with the New York Knicks. Upon hearing this news, the Rockets have now turned their attention to Chris Bosh. They have already informed Bosh that they are willing to sign him.

Bosh, 30, has been highly indecisive this off-season. There have been reports that he would take $11 million yearly. Conflicting reports say that he wants $16 million and other reports say he wants $18 million. Whatever the case, the Rockets can promise Bosh a nice pay day. However, they cannot grant him the number one option on the team. Bosh would have to play the same role he did in Miami.

Nevertheless, the Sixers are willing to take on Lin’s substantial contract under one condition; the Rockets will have to attach favorable assets to the trade, such as first-round picks. The Rockets are believed to grant the Sixers their wish and will likely send them a future first-round pick to sweeten the deal.

The Milwaukee Bucks are another team with interest in Jeremy Lin, but Houston may have to pay a huge price in any trade with the Bucks, who may ask for more than draft picks inserted to the deal. The Bucks like Jeremy Lin, but they are not a fan of his contract.

The Houston Rockets are intent on creating their own big three in H-Town. They may end up losing Chandler Parsons in any ordeal, but at least if they sign Chris Bosh, he would be a better fit for them than Carmelo Anthony. He would comfortably play as a third option on the team and would provide adequate spacing for Dwight Howard as a stretch four.
