Aaron Brooks will soon be the third point guard on the Chicago Bulls’ roster as he is finalizing an agreement with the team, according to Aggrey Sam of CSN Chicago.

The Bulls made a handful of moves last week to clear some cap space and roster spots. They waived Mike James, Lou Amundson, and Ronnie Brewer. They also traded Greg Smith and Anthony Randolph and used their amnesty provision on Carlos Boozer. They have been busy trying to solidify their roster.

Chicago wants Brooks to serve as a backup to Derrick Rose and Kirk Hinrich, who agreed to re-sign with the team on last Sunday. Basically Brooks will be a liability for the team in case of injuries to Rose and Hinrich.

The Bulls will be Brooks’ fifth different team in seven years. He spent his first four seasons with the Houston Rockets but has been bouncing from team to team since then. In his career, Brooks has been averaging 11.1 points and 3.4 assists.

He will provide the Bulls with more point guard depth, three-point shooting, and extreme speed off the bench. Two years ago, the Bulls had Nate Robinson as a third point guard. Last year, it was D.J. Augustin. This upcoming season, it will be Aaron Brooks.

The Chicago Bulls also had interest in Jameer Nelson, but they passed on him and will finalize a deal with Aaron Brooks later this week.
