The last time NBA fans saw LeBron James wearing a jersey with the number 23 was back in 2010 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. After returning home and signing with the Cavaliers this off-season, James has made his decison to wear the number 23 again. James announced on his Instagram account that he will be wearing his old number once again. He had this message on his Instagram photo:

"23 it is! It's only right I go back. 2·3=6 We still family 6. #HomeTeam #StriveForGreatness."

James spoke about the importance of the number 23 with ESPN, back in 2009:

I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized some way soon,” said James, who has worn 23 since he was a high school sophomore. “There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant, no Dwyane Wade if there wasn’t Michael Jordan first.

He can’t get the logo [Hall of Famer Jerry West's silhouette adorns the NBA's logo], and if he can’t, something has to be done. I feel like no NBA player should wear 23. I’m starting a petition, and I’ve got to get everyone in the NBA to sign it. Now, if I’m not going to wear No. 23, then nobody else should be able to wear it.

The switch back to #23 is sure to create even more interest in James' apparel, especially in Cleveland. It has been rumored that the Cavaliers will don a brand new style of uniforms. James' name and number will no doubt foster a major shopping spree amongst the LeBron and Cleveland faithful.
