Kevin Durant, who is not a costless agent until the year 2016, might just sign the biggest endorsement deal of his career. According to one person that is familiar with the negotiations, Durant's seven-year contract for $60 million is expiring and Durant might be signed by Under Armour Inc. Under Armour's main headquarters are in Maryland. Durant was born in Washington D.C. and maintains strong ties to the area. Nike and Adidas are also in talks with Durant.

“I’m just going to let my team be the ones who handle that behind the scenes, I guess,” Durant told ESPN last week. “When you look at stuff like that, it’s great problems to have because people want you for what you know and do on the basketball court, the work you put in, so I’m going to continue to put my work in, let them focus on that on the other end, and we’ll come together at some point.”

Wizards owner Ted Leonsis and Under Armour Founder and CEO Kevin Plank, a University of Maryland graduate, have been involved in several philanthropic endeavors in the D.C. area.

Let's say the deal does go down and Durant signs with Under Armour, but that does not necessarily mean Durant will sign with Washington Wizards.
