Aaron Craft, the undrafted point guard out of Ohio State, has signed a one-year, partially guaranteed contract with the Golden State Warriors after playing for their Summer League team.

This signing comes in the wake of Warriors reserve point guard, Nemanja Nedovic, suffering a foot injury while practicing for the Serbian national team. Craft’s partially guaranteed contract will most likely run until mid-January, in which Golden State will then have the choice to fully guarantee it or waive him.

Warriors coach, Steve Kerr praised Craft after his stellar summer league performance, where he averaged 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.6 steals in five games.

Craft is a two-time Big Ten defensive player of the year for Ohio State, and he averaged 9.8 points, 4.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in his final year with the Buckeyes. He led them to the final four as a starter in his sophomore year.

The Golden State Warriors signed Shaun Livingston as a reserve guard this off-season, but Aaron Craft may see plenty of minutes as Stephen Curry’s backup due to his outstanding defensive energy, which could earn him a permanent spot on the roster this upcoming season if all goes well.
