DeMarcus Cousins left Team USA’s scrimmage due to an apparent knee injury he suffered, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Cousins did not return to the scrimmage and will also sit out Saturday's Team USA exhibition game against Brazil. He will have an MRI soon, but USA Basketball Director Jerry Colangelo said it is only for precautionary reasons.

Cousins was helped off the floor two minutes into the scrimmage. Team USA has already lost Paul George to a gruesome leg injury and hopes to not lose another important player. Colangelo said that they are “hopeful” that Cousins is fine.

Team USA’s front line continues to thin. They lost Paul George to injury, and Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, and Kevin Durant all withdrew from the team.

Cousins is going to be an essential player for Team USA to have on the roster because they are going to need his size and rebounding, most specifically against a large and lengthy Spain team, which is thought to be USA's stiffest competition at the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

On a hopeful note, Cousins was able to walk off the practice court slowly, on his own, without assistance, Spears reports.

Fellow Team USA hopeful Rudy Gay had this to say about Cousins, his Sacramento Kings teammate: "I talked to him on the way out. I think he'll be OK. I hope he's just being a drama queen."
