The United Center crowd was in frenzy Saturday night to view the return of their superstar Derrick Rose. All eyes were on him, and Rose made a couple of highlight plays to excite.

The game started with Brazil dominating the paint with their first 12 points coming from there. Stephen Curry was keeping the US Team alive with a few early jumpers.

Mid-way through the first quarter, USA turned up their defensive pressure forcing six Brazil turnovers in seven possessions. Brazil's early turnover problems had Team USA running the open floor, which included a highlight alley-oop pass from Klay Thompson to Anthony Davis who threw it down emphatically.  USA led by 14 at the end of the first quarter.

However, Brazil started the second quarter off strong, going on a 8-1 run and would ultimately cut the US lead down to four with a few minutes remaining in the quarter.

During the second quarter, Derrick Rose got hit above the eye and was bleeding. He went to the locker room to receive treatment at the 5:40 mark of the quarter and returned with 1:56 remaining in the half.

The second quarter was capped off by a Derrick Rose floater to beat the buzzer. Team USA led 45-37 going into the half.

Anthony Davis opened the second half with a 14-foot jumper, but Brazil hung in close throughout the entire third quarter due to excellent interior play. Leandro Barbosa was making a great effort to attack the rim while Splitter, Varejao, and Nene were passing the ball beautifully within themselves to find easy buckets around the cylinder.

Rose, however, showcased his explosiveness late in the third where he crossed over Brazil’s Raul Neto, got to the hole, and finished gracefully with his left hand over Varejao.

Even after Rose’s spectacular play, Brazil remained poised and shortened USA’s lead to five at the end of the third.

The fourth quarter began with the game staying close until Anthony Davis checked in around the eight minute mark. Davis made an incredible hustle play early in the fourth by diving into the crowd to save the ball after a broken play. That play energized the crowd as they were chanting “USA! USA!” Anthony Davis said “it got the crowd going [and] it got us going,” speaking of his hustle play after the game.

That was only the beginning for Davis in the fourth. Afterward, he blocked a shot attempt from Brazil and kept the ball in play by saving it from going out of bounds. Later, he ran the floor like a deer to receive an alley-oop pass from Kyrie Irving and threw it down over the defense of Brazil. A possession later, he drained a top of the key jump shot.

With Davis’ outstanding play on both ends, Team USA earned the largest lead of the game of 15 with 6:16 remaining in regulation.

From there, they were able to build on the lead and win by 17 with a final score of 95 to 78, led by Anthony Davis’ 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks. James Harden chipped in with 18 points. Derrick Rose only had 7 points but looked physically well on the court.

After the game, Rose had to say this about his return to the United Center. “I think everybody was excited. It was cool. But I can’t get big headed about it. Just got to keep poised,” Rose said. “I probably won’t get any sleep tonight. I’m excited for the city. Everybody was happy we came here and played…and we won,” added Rose.

There has been plenty of talk about Team USA's lack of size, but they got it done tonight by forcing turnovers with their small and quick lineups. They played pressure defense and got out in transition, earning easy points. However, Andre Drummond, one of the few bigs on the team, did not play tonight against Brazil.
