Portland Trail Blazers 2014-2015 Season Roster Preview

Starters:

Notes: There are no changes to the Blazers starting lineup this season. All Starters will likely receive less minutes this season as a result of bench improvements. This will also result in a lower number of injuries.

2nd String:

PG: Steve Blake

SG: CJ McCollum

SF: Will Barton

PF: Thomas Robinson

C: Chris Kaman

Notes: The Blazers made 2 new additions to their bench: Steve Blake and Chris Kaman. These two veterans will serve as the glue in a group of young players off of the bench.

3rd string:

PG: N/A

SG: Allen Crabbe

SF: Dorell Wright

PF: N/A

C: Meyers Leonard / Joel Freeland

Notes: Dorell Wright was largely a disappointment for the Blazers last season. He was expected to be a solid rotation player during the season, but due to poor play he dropped out of the rotation in the second half of the season. Wright will likely play as a backup for Will Barton, who has shown major improvement. Allen Crabbe shot a decent three point percentage (around 40%), but there isn't a place for him on the Blazers roster. The same goes for Joel Freeland. Freeland played very well for the Blazers last season before spraining his MCL and missing the rest of the season. Now, with Chris Kaman on the roster, there isn't a place for Freeland. Meyers Leonard has been a disappointment for the Blazers since his rookie year. Leonard will only receive “garbage time”.

SF: Victor Claver

PF: N/A

C: Meyers Leonard / Joel Freeland

Notes: Victor Claver has been exactly what the Blazers expected him to be. He isn't any better, but not any worse. Claver will be on the roster in case of an injury catastrophe in the backcourt.
