Shannon Brown agrees to sign a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Miami Heat, according to Sam Amick of USA Today Sports.

The New York Knicks waived Shannon Brown earlier in the summer making him an unrestricted costless agent. The Knicks were not too impressed with the two-time champion and already had plenty of backcourt depth.

In his eight-year career, Brown has played for seven different teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Bobcats, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, and New York Knicks.

After his stints with the Lakers and Suns, Brown has found it difficult to find a permanent home. The 6’4” athletic guard has career averages of 7.7 points and 1.9 rebounds.

The Miami Heat have been in need of depth at the shooting guard position. They signed Reggie Williams a few weeks ago and could use another shooting guard backup for Dwyane Wade.

There is no indication whether Shannon Brown’s contract is fully or partially guaranteed.
