Serbia defeated Iran in the group stages of the 2014 FIBA World Cup at Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada in Granada, Spain.

The game was fairly close at halftime, with Serbia having a 42-38 edge. The Serbs then exploded for a 25-13 third quarter that would give them the edge over FIBA Asia Champions, Iran.

Nemanja Bjelica led the way for Serbia with 18 points, while Phoenix Suns draftee Bogdan Bodganovic added 16. Serbia shot a great 63 percent on two-point shots and 46 percent from three-point range, but made just 52 percent of its costless throws.

Former NBA center Hamed Haddadi led Iran with 29 points while Mohammad Samad Nikkhah Bahrami (yes, one name) was right behind him with 20. Iran made 73 percent of their two-point shot attempts, but shot just 25 percent from three-point territory while attempting nearly the same amount as two-pointers.

Serbia, now 2-1, will take on Brazil at 12:00 pm ET on Wednesday, September 3rd.

Iran, 0-3, will try to achieve their first victory against Egypt at 9:30 am ET also on Wednesday.
