The Los Angeles Clippers continue to use the off-season to add more depth to their roster. This summer, they have taken the time to add a few quality players to strengthen their bench.

Possibly one of the most underrated moves they made was signing Spencer Hawes. The 7-foot big man gives the Clippers the luxury of having a center that can space the floor and hit three-pointers. Further, Hawes is also an astounding shot blocker and passer. He will help with the rebounding as well. The Clippers have been searching long and hard for a suitable backup 5 for a couple of years, and they now have one in Hawes.

After losing Darren Collison early in the off-season, the Clippers immediately reinstated a new backup point guard in Jordan Farmar. Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Farmar demonstrated his ability to score, play make, and shoot the three-ball efficiently. He will now be mentored by Chris Paul and could expand on his game even more.

Ekpe Udoh was another terrific addition to their frontcourt. Udoh may see limited minutes, but here is another shot blocking big man who will also supply solid rebounding.

One area the Clippers really worked on was their wing depth. They traded Jared Dudley to clear cap space and used the extra money to sign a few wing players. The Clippers signed Chris Douglas-Roberts and Joe Ingles, the Aussie swingman, and re-signed Hedo Turkoglu.

Joe Inlges can shoot the ball with excellent accuracy as he proved that during the 2014 FIBA World Cup. As for Douglas-Roberts, he could have offensive outbursts occasionally. Turkoglu, 35, will fall last in line at the small forward position. Despite Turkoglu’s lack of offensive production, the Clippers brought him back for his size and defense. Glen Davis also re-sign with the Clippers. He brought plenty of defensive energy and rebounding last season for Los Angeles and will continue to serve as Blake Griffin’s backup.

Thus, the Los Angeles Clippers have made their bench even deeper this off-season and have filled it with worthy players. Quietly, the Clippers have built a roster that looks more dangerous than ever on paper. They will surely be a top 3 team in the Western Conference once again.
