The Orlando Magic continue their rebuilding project as they have made some off-season moves that will give their young guys the chance to get plenty of minutes this season to develop.

The first set of moves the Magic made were waiving longtime point guard Jameer Nelson and trading Arron Afflalo. These moves were made specifically for Victor Oladipo to become the new young leader of the team in the near future. The Magic noticed the potential of Oladipo last season and figured that they need to create more play time for him, and that is exactly what they have done by making these moves.

To fill out the rest of the roster, Orlando has signed a few veterans. They started off by handing lucrative offers to Ben Gordon and Channing Frye.

Although Frye will provide Orlando with floor spacing and superior three-point shooting, paying him $8 million a year is incredibly generous. Moreover, Gordon inked a two-year, $9 million deal with the team which is also a lucrative contract, considering that he was not part of the rotation for the Charlotte Bobcats last season and only accumulated a total of 19 games while averaging just 5.2 points per game. However, the Magic are probably hoping that Gordon could bounce back this season and become the scorer he once was.

However, signing Luke Ridnour was a reasonable move. Ridnour will serve as the third point guard and will bring veteran experience and knowledge to the team. He is also exceptionally sound when it comes to running the offense. The Magic also claimed Willie Green off waivers to add more shooting and depth to their bench.

The Orlando Magic may have parted ways with some of their main scorers from last season, but the moves they made were understandable. They want Victor Oladipo to be their future star and rightfully so. Therefore, the organization is headed toward the right direction, and this off-season has not been all too bad for them.
