Another day, another injury in the NBA. This time it is Tiago Splitter who will be out at least 7 to 10 days with a strained right calf muscle, the San Antonio Spurs have announced. Splitter will be reevaluated in about a week.

With the regular season looming, there have already been four recent injuries around the league to key players.

Splitter will miss all of training camp and likely to miss part of the preseason, which begins on October 8 in Berlin, Germany for the Spurs.

Tiago Splitter was a crucial part of San Antonio’s successful championship run last season. He has gradually improved his game and has earned the respect of Gregg Popovich over the years. The Spurs will certainly need him healthy this upcoming season.

Last season, Splitter missed 23 games due to a shoulder injury, so this current injury is a bit worrisome, but fortunately Splitter has a month to fully recover before the season begins. The four-year veteran averaged 8.2 points and 6.2 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game for the San Antonio Spurs last season.

In the intervening time, Aron Baynes should fill in the void for Tiago Splitter.
