News broke earlier on Thursday, October 16 that Daniel Orton was waived by the Washington Wizards according to a team insider. Shortly after that news broke another one broke on Orton saying he asked to be waived so he can play in China. He is scheduled to arrive in China on Saturday or late Sunday, but the chances of playing there are still limited.

In just five preseason games Orton did not see the court which left his chances to make the 15-man roster with tons of talent in the front court very limited. End result; he was waived from the club.

Glen Rice Jr. went down with what seemed like a horrible injury on Thursday. Team doctors did however do x-rays. "It is just a high ankle sprain but nothing more than that," team doctors said, which should give the club and fans something to be extremely pleased about as the dark cloud draining the fluid from the team's high hopes would have dwindled down to nearly nothing if Rice would have went down for a extended amout of time.

Rice started for the Wizards on Wednesday night vs. Maccabi Haifa in place of a already sidelined Bradley Beal. The injury to Rice occured when he stepped on someones foot and rolled his ankle. Head coach Randy Wittman wasn't concered.

"Sprained ankle. Nothing more than that," said Wittman on Rice's ankle. Rice will be sidelined until the season opening game which in Miami, Florida to the LeBron(less) Miami Heat.
