The Dallas Mavericks currently have 15 guaranteed players on their roster and are willing to trade a couple of them to costless up cap space entering the regular season, reports Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Guard Gal Mekel and center Bernard James are two players that the Mavericks are actively shopping right now. Dallas re-signed James this off-season to a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal but want to move him and Mekel to costless up at least one or two roster spots. None of the teams have inquired the Mavericks for either player yet.

Mekel played in 31 games for Dallas last season, averaging 2.4 points and 2.0 assists. James, who showed up in 46 games and received 11 starts on 9.9 minutes per game in his rookie season, only played in 30 games on 4.9 minutes per game last season, averaging just 0.9 points and 1.4 rebounds.

The Mavericks will be looking for a trading partner that is willing to take on the contracts of Bernard James and Gal Mekel, who are owed $915,243 and $816,482 respectively this season.
