1st Quarter (:00): Kobe finished that quarter with 0 points (o-for-3 from the field).

1st Quarter (:01): G. Dragic pushed the ball all the way down the court in four seconds to split the Lakers defense and draws a foul.

1st Quarter (:59): Another defensive breakdown forces Bryon Scott to take a timeout.

1st Quarter (1:40): Price's defense is really good. He should definitely make the team, no question about it.

1st Quarter (3:08): Another Lakers turnover.

1st Quarter (3:23): 7-0 run, and just like that Phoenix up 17-11.

1st Quarter (4:00): And...the Lakers' defensive breakdowns are back.

1st Quarter (4:32): Suns already chucking up threes. Marcus hits another, gives Phoenix a two-point lead.

1st Quarter (5:13): Kobe got a steal and was on his way  for an easy dunk, but Johnson was called for an illegal screen.

1st Quarter (5:20): Kobe has yet to score. Has only attempted one shot.

1st Quarter (5:20): Timeout, Lakers up 11-10.

1st Quarter (5:40): Bledsoe blows a layup...

1st Quarter (6:53): Something the Lakers don't want to do is turn it over. A turnover leads to an alley-oop on the other end for Phoenix.

1st Quarter (7:21): Jordan Hill trying to be aggressive early on. Great positioning in the paint to score.

1st Quarter (8:50): 0-7 start for Phoenix but Morris stops the bleeding. Marcus Morris that is.

1st Quarter (8:54): Slow start for both teams. 2-2 with over 3 minutes gone by.

1st Quarter (10:20): Price hits the first field goal of the game.

1st Quarter (10:47): Wow, Boozer misses an easy layup.

1st Quarter (11:40): Pretty sold defensive effort by the Lakers on that first possession.

1st Quarter (11:45): As expected, Kobe is guarding Marcus Morris.

10:10 P.M. EST: We are underway!

10:08 P.M. EST: Honda Center looks pretty empty tonight. Guess people don't want to see Kobe Bryant play.

10:02 P.M. EST: Alex Len will not play for the Suns tonight. He should return tomorrow, though. Zoran Dragic will likely show up to the game late, but he will play.

10:00 P.M. EST: However, Kobe may switch off to Marcus Morris to let Wesley Johnson defend one of the guards.

10:00 P.M. EST: 10 minutes remaining until tip-off. Interested to see how Kobe will be able to defend the young guards in Bledsoe and Dragic.

9:48 P.M. EST: Maybe a smart idea to have Lin come off the bench since the bench has been limited offensively.

9:46 P.M. EST: Looks like Jeremy Lin will actually come off the bench tonight. Starters will be Ronnie Price, Kobe Bryant, Wesley Johnson, Carlos Boozer, and Jordan Hill.

9:34 P.M. EST: Update: If Jordan Clarkson does not play tomorrow, he will definitely play on Friday.

9:28 P.M. EST: The Suns will be back in action tomorrow against the Los Angeles Clippers, so they may limit their core players as well.

9:28 P.M. EST: Phoenix's only loss came to the Houston Rockets, 95-92.

9:27 P.M. EST: The Suns have been playing Suns-like basketball, as they are averaging 106.0 points per game in wins.

9:26 P.M. EST: The Lakers have yet to announce their starting lineup, but you could expect Lin to return to the starting unit.

9:24 P.M. EST: In those losses, they've allowed their opponents to score 118.3 points per game. Their defense has certainly been ailing.

9:23 P.M. EST: In three losses, the Lakers have lost by an average of 29.6 points.

9:18 P.M. EST: Hornacek played this lineup in the first game of the preseason, but has since tried different combinations.

9:16 P.M. EST: The Suns will go with a starting lineup of the Morris brothers, Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic, and Miles Plumlee.

9:11 P.M. EST: Jordan Clarkson will definitely not play tonight, but he hopes to play tomorrow.

9:00 P.M. EST: The Lakers will play tomorrow as well, meaning Kobe may see limited minutes tonight. Remember, Byron Scott said that he does not really want Kobe playing in back to back games.

8:50 P.M. ESTByron Scott: "I think if we [were] in the East, we'd feel real comfortable about making the playoffs but we're not we're in the West." via Serena Winters.

Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Lakers LIVE!

8:46 P.M. EST: Let's see how many three pointers the Lakers attempt tonight against a team that plays up-tempo.

8:42 P.M. EST: Steve Nash is still out for the Lakers. He still has a tingly feeling in his back, according to Coach Scott.

8:26 P.M. EST: Ed Davis has been a bright spot for the Lakers. He has made 15 out of 19 shots during the preseason and blocked 7 shots.

8:26 P.M. EST: Update: Jeremy Lin will play tonight for the LakersRyan Kelly will likely miss the rest of the preseason.

8:19 P.M. EST: The Lakers are 2-3 in preseason action. The Suns are 3-1. Each team has two more games remaining on their preseason schedule after this one.

8:18 P.M. EST: As for the forwards, Jeff Hornacek has tried four different combinations - the Morris twins, Tucker/TolliverTucker/Markieff Morris, and Tolliver/Marcus Morris. In the end, Jeff Hornacek may go with P.J. Tucker and Markieff Morris.

8:17 P.M. EST: Phoenix's core group is healthy. The team has actually been mixing up lineups throughout the preseason to find the right combination, mainly at the forward slots. The backcourt is definitely set, and the center position as well.

8:16 P.M. EST: Last game, Carlos Boozer helped Kobe on the offensive end. It would be interesting to see who steps to the plate tonight. That is one thing that has frustrated Kobe. He is back in that stage where he is getting no offensive help, at least not now since the team is shorthanded.

8:15 P.M. EST: The keys for the Lakers would be to limit the turnovers, get back in transition defense, and stay healthy. It seems like every game or practice, the Lakers lose a player to injuries.

8:14 P.M. EST: The keys to the game for the Suns would be to control the pace, spread the floor with shooters, and attack the Lakers on the interior.

8:13 P.M. EST: The Suns backcourt may be undersized, but they make the most of it. On the offensive end, they are tough to stop and should give the Lakers a lot of trouble tonight.

8:11 P.M. EST: There were questions whether the Suns would be able to retain Eric Bledsoe this offseason. At one point, it seemed like he was all but gone. However, Bledsoe agreed to finally re-sign with the Suns, and he is already producing well along with his backcourt mate, Goran Dragic.

8:10 P.M. EST: The Suns have playoff aspirations this season. Last season, they won 48 games and still missed the playoffs. They have shored up their bench this season and are hoping to sneak into the top eight. It will be a mission in a tough Western Conferece but with the new acquisitions of Isaiah Thomas, Anthony Tolliver, and Zoran Dragic, the Suns have a legitimate chance this season.

8:09 P.M. EST: The Lakers have not looked too sharp defensively, and they are going against an offensive minded team tonight. The Suns could very easily expose the Lakers' lackadaisical defense. However, Kobe told reporters after Sunday's game that this team is going to play smashmouth basketball, that they are going to play physical every night. We will see if that will be the case against a tougher opponent.

8:08 P.M. EST: Kobe Bryant has looked brilliant since his return from an Achilles injury and a knee injury. He seems to be playing at a high level. In this game, he will be defended by one of the fiercest perimeter defenders, P.J. Tucker.

8:07 P.M. EST: Three-point shooting could be one huge difference in this game. The Suns are loaded with three-point shooters, while the Lakers are not. In fact, the Lakers 10-of-42 from downtown in five games. Coach Byron Scott has been advising the team to limit the three-point shooting. Last season, the Lakers attempted 24.8 threes a game. Once again, they have a new identity now since they have a new coaching staff.

Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Lakers LIVE inline

8:06 P.M. EST: This game is definitely going to be a run and gun, up and down game, something that favors the Suns. That type of play would have played in favor of the Lakers last season, but they have a new coaching staff and do not play too up-tempo.

8:05 P.M. EST: Isaiah Thomas, who was acquired during the offseason, has been very impressive for the Suns during the preseason. He will surely have a great game again tonight against the Lakers.

8:04 P.M. EST: The Suns are well rested for this game as they last played on Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs. The Suns crushed the defending champions by 31 points.

8:03 P.M. EST: Speaking of Ronnie Price, his defensive energy sparked the Lakers Sunday night against the Utah Jazz. The Lakers came back from 22 down to win on Sunday.

8:02 P.M. EST: The Lakers may be without Jeremy Lin (ankles), Ryan Kelly (hamstring), Steve Nash (back), Xavier Henry (knee), Jordan Clarkson (calf), and Nick Young (thumb). They are extremely shorthanded, as they have been most of the preseason. Look for Ronnie Price to start again.

8:01 P.M. EST: This is the first time these two teams will meet during the preseason. Both teams will face each other during the regular season a week and a day from now as well.

8:00 P.M. EST: Welcome to VAVEL USA's LIVE event of the Phoenix Suns vs. the Los Angeles Lakers. It's only preseason, but we have an exciting matchup on hand.
