The Dallas Mavericks demolished the Orlando Magic Friday night 117-92. Chandler Parsons led the Mavs with 24 points on 8-of-13 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. Dirk Nowitzki played well with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting and 4 threes to go along with four rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes. Al-Farouq Aminu played well with 13 points on 5-of-8 from the field and 3 threes off the bench.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said, "everybody came in and did their job, you're never going to be perfect, but we've got good depth and we've got guys I think are going to be ready. Now it's time to throw it up," after the game.

The Mavericks shot very well on the night, shooting 55 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point land. They were second in the NBA last season in three-point percentage. The Orlando Magic did shoot a decent 46 percent from the field, but only made 6 three pointers and made nine less costless throws than the Mavericks. The Magic allowing 117 points makes it very difficult to win a game with that kind of defense. Victor Oladipo for the Magic was out tonight as he has suffered a facial fracture and is out indefinitely. Channing Frye also sat out with an MCL injury.

Nikola Vucevic played well for the Magic, scoring 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting and 13 rebounds. Tobias Harris had 14 points, and Kyle O'Quinn and Evan Fournier both had 12 points.

The Mavericks did add some good pieces to their roster this season. They added Chandler Parsons, Tyson Chandler, Jameer Nelson, Raymond Felton, and Al-Farouq Aminu. They are looking to compete for a higher seed in the West. They have a chance to be top five in the conference after their roster improvements.

The Orlando Magic look to be in a rebuilding mode this season once again. They did add rookie Aaron Gordon, Channing Frye, Ben Gordon, rookie Elfrid Payton, Luke Ridnour, and Evan Fournier, who are pretty much just role players. They did lose their leading scorer from last year, Arron Afflalo. They got a lot of young players on their team, and they are not near a playoff team yet, but they do have the talent and potential to become a competitive team in the near future.
