After a slow 0-3 start, the new-look Pistons have won back to back games, winning Friday night's game by the score of 98-95 against the Bucks. The Pistons led by double figures in the second quarter and although they almost returned to that margin in the second half, the Bucks simply would not go away. After leading 24-12, the Bucks went on a 9-3 run to end the first quarter and put themselves down by six. Early on, Milwaukee made an effort to deny Greg Monroe and forced several turnovers by double teaming him, as well as center Andre Drummond in the third quarter. Monroe finished with just 10 points off of eight shot attempts.

With their frontcourt stymied, the Pistons had to rely on outside shooting, which was their Achilles heel in 2013. Tonight, however, they hit 11-of-23 attempts, while Milwaukee only made five. Caron Butler, in the second quarter, sank two shots from deep, in addition to a mid-range jumper, on his way to 14 points off the bench.

The Pistons continued to hoist from three as Caldwell-Pope sank one off of a Josh Smith assist in the third quarter. Milwaukee soon answered with a sweet baseline pass from Kendall Marshall to rookie Jabari Parker for a jam. The Bucks, after never leading throughout the entire game, took a five-point lead in the middle of the third quarter. Just when it appeared momentum was swinging in their favor, point guard Brandon Jennings swished back to back threes to give the Pistons a one-point lead.

The fourth-quarter was back and forth and overall, very evenly played. However, momentum turned slightly when Andre Drummond blocked a jumper and, on the fast break, Jennings dumped it to Caldwell-Pope for the finish. The Pistons led by nine at that point, but a few Ilyasova layups brought the Bucks to within three. The crucial play came in the final minute where, leading by 2, Caldwell-Pope shot a jumper from the foul line area that chipped the rim. Smith, however, scooped it back up and in and after the usual late game costless throw battle, the Pistons ended up pulling out the victory. Although in a losing effort, youngsters Brandon Knight, formerly a Piston, and Jabari Parker looked great tonight. Knight scored 17 points and added nine assists, while Parker had 16 of his own. The Bucks just couldn't keep up with Detroit's outside shooting game which, after failing them so often last year, came through at The Palace tonight.

The Pistons next game will be Sunday against Chicago at 6:00 PM EST. The Bucks will take on Memphis at home on Saturday night at 8:00 PM EST.
