The New York Knicks gave one of their best performances Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks without their leader Carmelo Anthony, but ultimately came up short, 109-102, in overtime.

This game was all about ex-players trying to put on a show for their former teams. None less than Tyson Chandler, who had his best game of the season, as he scored 17 points and grabbed 25 rebounds, both season-highs.

Much was talked about leading up to the game about Tyson Chandler's role with the Knicks last season, and it was evident Chandler was on a mission tonight to prove his critics and perhaps some of his ex-teammates wrong.

The Knicks led by four going into the fourth quarter and had control of the game before Monta Ellis went on a 6-0 run by himself to give the Mavs an 88-85 lead with just over three minutes left.

J.R. Smith would tie the game on a well contested deep two-point shot with 0.9 seconds left on the clock to send the game into overtime. However, five turnovers and the play of Dirk Nowitzki in the extra frame would end up being the Knicks' demise.

Dirk Nowitzki had a season-high 30 points for Dallas and helped lead the charge in the fourth quarter as well as overtime to snap the Mavs two-game losing streak.

Jose Calderon, the biggest name going New York's way in the six-player deal after one season with the Mavericks, matched a career-high with seven three-pointers for all of his 21 points.

The Mavericks avoided a second straight loss to a short-handed Eastern Conference team and will now embark on a four-game road trip that'll start with a matchup with the Eastern Conference standings leader, Toronto Raptors. The Mavs lost two nights earlier to Indiana, who was missing all five of their starters from last season's conference finalists.

Dallas also won despite another dreadful night from three-point range, going 4-of-31 from beyond the arc. Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons, and Harris, who started with Jameer Nelson sidelined by back spasms, were 3-of-21 combined.

The Knicks will now travel to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder Friday evening, November 28, where they hope to have Carmelo Anthony back in their starting lineup.
