As of right now Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is the leading candidate for the 2015 League MVP Award. Curry along with his "Splash Brother" Klay Thompson has the Warriors as the clear cut favorite to represent the Western Conference in the 2015 NBA Finals. Curry performance so far this season has been sensational. He continues to show that killer instinct that so many other great point guards that have come before him.

His style of play resembles the great Reggie Miller. The only trait that Curry may have over Miller is that he is more of an athletic point guard. Curry’s most notable performance was against the Dallas Mavericks. Curry scored 51 points which resulted in a Warriors victory after trailing by 22 points in the first half.

Right now there are numerous teams around the league that are regretting that they did not draft this man when they had the opportunity in the 2009 NBA Draft. The team that drafted after the Warriors the New York Knicks could have benefited from Curry’s assistance if they would have taken him in the draft. However could Carmelo Anthony and Stephen Curry coexist in the “Big Apple?” We will most likely never know. On the flip side the Warriors have found a gem and a marketable superstar in the making. Ever since Curry’s arrival in Oakland the Warriors have made the postseason two consecutive seasons and will most likely make it a third trip this season.

The Warriors are currently the number one seed in the Western Conference. Curry and the Warriors have taken their fans to a place that they have not seen since the days of Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin donned the blue and gold uniform. If they continue their winning ways throughout the league then the quest for the NBA Finals will go through the noisy confines of the Oracle Arena. There are many others that believe that the Warriors will be tainted with the “fraud” label once the playoffs begin in mid-April.

We have seen teams that have blazed through their perspective conference only to fall short in the first round of the playoffs. Under a different regime the Golden State Warriors defeated the Dallas Mavericks 4-2 in the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs. That year the Mavericks won 67 games and were three games short of being the second team in league history to win 70 games. At the time the Warriors were the eight seed in the Western Conference and were expected to be a pickup game series for the favored Mavericks. Its 2015 and the roles of both teams have reversed.

The Mavericks are not the eight seed in the West however there’s still a chance that these two ball clubs could meet up in the playoffs. The Warriors will most likely face the most dangerous eight seed in the playoffs in the Oklahoma City Thunder or possibly the New Orleans Pelicans. Out of the two potential eight seeds the Pelicans are the team that will give Curry and the Warriors the most trouble. We all know what the Thunder is capable of doing in the playoffs as long as Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook play lights out basketball against their opponent.

History also shows us that if you eliminate at least one of those stars on Thunder’s roster then you have defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs. However no one knows how emerging superstar Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans will perform in the postseason. Stephen Curry must show why he is one of the best scorers in the game against either one of those clubs especially the Pelicans. If not the Warriors will be just another team that had a record breaking season and lose to an eight seed in the playoffs.
