The Brooklyn Nets entered Wednesday night's game picking up wins against the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets. New Orleans, who was without Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson, looked to make sure they wouldn’t become the third victim.

In the opening quarter of the game, Brooklyn was struggling to find any offense. Out of their first 12 shot attempts, they were only able to convert on two of them. Halfway through the first period of the game, the Nets found themselves with just four points. Things began to pick up for Brooklyn in the second frame, as they were able to outscore their opponents, 29-26. A big part in that was the roles of Brook Lopez and newly acquired Thaddeus Young. Both guys were able to sum up double digit scoring numbers after two quarters by displaying their inside scoring talent. However, the Pelicans were still up at halftime, 53-50.

The third frame started by Brooklyn going on an 8-0 run, as they took a one point lead. Joe Johnson owned the quarter by dropping 12 points. New Orleans was able to counter it by continuing to pile up numbers in the scoring category. For the final 12 minutes of the game, the offensive struggles for the Nets hunted them once again. As for the opposing team, their hot offense did not slow down, as they concluded the game shooting it at 51 percent from the floor. No matter if it was finding offense from the three-point arc or the free-throw line, the percentage for both categories was above 40. The Pelicans also recorded 43 boards, while the Nets finished with 37.

Quincy Pondexter had a huge night for New Orleans, as he concluded with a career-high of 25 points. Prior to this game, his career high was at 20, which also came against the Nets in 2013 as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. Tyreke Evans notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists. The high man for Brooklyn was Joe Johnson with 21 points. Jarrett Jack came back to action after being out of commission the past two games with a hamstring injury. He provided the team with 15 points and three assists off the bench.

The schedule will become more challenging for Brooklyn as their next three games will be against Western Conference teams who are currently in the playoff picture, including a back to back. Both teams will be back in action on February 27th, as Brooklyn goes up against the Houston Rockets while New Orleans faces the Miami Heat.
