The Milwaukee Bucks, who have lost 12 of their last 15 games, will be looking to rebound against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday after losing a grueling triple overtime game to the Brooklyn Nets, 129-127, on Friday.

It was an epic battle between each team as Brook Lopez scored 32 and totaled a season-high 18 rebounds, throwing down an emphatic slam on a three-point play to open the third overtime and followed it with another basket to swing the momentum in Brooklyn’s favor, 122-117. Later in the final overtime period, down 128-125, the Bucks nearly tied it again but Khris Middleton’s three-pointer spun in and out of the rim as the Nets handed the Bucks their fifth straight loss. Zaza Pachulia scored 22 points and pulled down 21 boards, including an NBA season-high 18 offensive. Thaddeus Young scored 24 points and Joe Johnson had 20 for the Nets, who stopped a four-game home losing streak.

Middleton finished with 29 points, eight rebounds, and six assists for Milwaukee. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 23 points and 14 rebounds

Ever since Brandon Knight was traded, the Bucks have struggled mightily, going 4-12. Due to their recent slump, the Bucks have fallen six games behind fifth place Washington and seven behind the fourth spot, the last slot for home-court advantage. Moreover, there are five teams within striking distance of them.

While the Bucks faltered to the Nets on Friday, the Cavaliers pulled out a 95-92 victory over the Indiana Pacers for their 15th straight win at Quicken Loans Arena. Despite feeling ill, LeBron James scored 29 points, including 11 consecutive points in the fourth that gave Cleveland a 93-92 lead. Free throws by Iman Shumpert with a second left solidified the win as a desperation three by C.J. Miles was way off the mark. Irving contributed with thirteen points and Kevin Love pulled down thirteen boards. With the win, the Cavs secured their first playoff berth since 2010 and are a league-best with a 26-6 record since January 15.

In their last game against each other on December 31, the Bucks knocked off the short-handed Cavs, 96-80, as LeBron James sat out with a sore left knee while Kevin Love was sidelined with back spasms. Brandon Knight led the way with 26 points as he went 11 for 19 from the court, including four treys and dished out six assists. O.J. Mayo tallied 15 points and Antetokounmpo added 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Milwaukee led most of the game, building a 17-point advantage in the first half and opened the third with a 13-2 run, holding the Cavs to a season-low seven points in the period. The Bucks lead ballooned to 22 points in the fourth quarter. Kyrie Irving scored 25 points for the Cavs, and Tristan Thompson totaled 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Despite their win in the last meeting, Milwaukee could be in trouble this time around. Michael Carter-Williams has been dreadful in two games against Cleveland this season, averaging a measly 10.0 points on 9 of 28 and 1 of 8 from beyond the arc. In addition, his fellow backcourt mate Khris Middleton is 4 for 14 for an average of 6.0 points in two games as well against Cleveland.

Plus, it doesn’t help that the Cavs are at full strength, and Irving and Love have been dominant against the Bucks. Irving averages 23.4 points on a 51.7 field goal percentage against Milwaukee while Love has also averaged an identical 23.4 and 14.4 rebounds over his last eight games versus the Bucks.

Jared Dudley will be out with lower back problems, and Mayo will be sidelined with right hamstring soreness. The teams have split the first two games this season, both played in Cleveland.

Tip-off will be at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
