In 2010, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded the draft rights of Trevor Booker to the Washington Wizards for the rights to Lazar Hayward and Nemanja Bjelica (bee-yell-itza).

The Serbian forward started his pro playing career in 2007 for Traiskirchen Lions in Austria. After one season there, he would return to his home country of Serbia playing for Red Star Belgrade.

2010 was a big year for Bjelica as he was drafted and he changed teams once again, this time to Spanish ACB powerhouse Caja Laboral. His first season with Laboral didn't allow him to showcase his talents as he only played nine minutes per game. His second season with Laboral, however, Bjelica would receive a slight bump up in minutes, receiving 13 per game. Although he only averaged 4.8 points per game, he did it on 56 percent shooting from the field and 47 percent from three. His last season with the club was by far his best. Bjelica played 23 minutes per game and had averages of 9.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

In 2013, Bjelica changed teams once again, this time signing with his current team Fenerbahce Ulker. The 2013-14 season wound up being Bjelica's best year. In 24 Euroleague games, Bjelic averaged career highs of 10.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

The Timberwolves would be smart to do all they can to bring Bjelica to the states to join their young core. Bjelica can bring a ton of talent and options with him if he does in fact join the Timberwolves. At 6'10" 235 lbs., Bjelica can play the power forward and small forward positions. The extremely versatile big man can do a lot of different things. Bjelica can handle the ball and is a very underrated passer. Being able to play both forward positions would also give the Timberwolves a lot of lineup options.

It is reported that it was actually Bjelica who initiated talks about coming to the NBA. It is also reported that he has hired U.S. agent Arn Tellem. It is uncertain what would have to happen to get Bjelica out of his current contract with Fenerbahce. If the Timberwolves are able to buyout his contract, bringing the versatile combo forward to the T'Wolves definitely wouldn't be a bad thing.
