Even though the Dallas Mavericks were fortunate enough to make the playoffs in the stacked Western Conference, a playoff appearance is not up to par with expectations. They were defeated by the Houston Rockets in the first-round of the playoffs, the season was a disappointment and according to the organizations standards, a failure. Mark Cuban is willing to do whatever it takes to make Dallas contenders each year, and this offseason will be crucial into forming just that for next season. Cuban isn't the only one that will be trying to convince key free agents to come to Dallas. Chandler Parsons will be reaching out on his own as he did with Dwight Howard at Houston.

NBA players can keep in touch with each other and talk about possible signing with a team which on the other hand, is illegal for front office or coaches to do so.

Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News interviewed Parsons asking him what his recruiting pitch would be to free agents this summer:

“We have a great organization,” Parsons said. “We have high expectations. We have the best owner in sports.

“We’re definitely moving in the right direction, and we have a lot of pieces that would fit well with the free agents out there right now. And we have a great coach, so I think we’re moving in the right direction. We’re a championship-caliber team. We’ve just got to get the right pieces. I have great relationships with a lot of guys that are out there.”

There have been whispers that DeAndre Jordan and LaMarcus Aldridge are interested in playing for Dallas next season. Ty Lawson of the Denver Nuggets has also been in talks that included him signing with the Mavericks to fill their void at point guard since Rajon Rondo will sign elsewhere. Not only is Dallas attractive because of their great ownership and organization all together, but they also are a big market team and an income tax free state.

Parsons will not only be busy trying to get himself healthy for next season as he recovers from knee surgery, but also trying to make his team a realistic contender for next year's NBA Title. He's proved he can do so as the NBA has seen so far with the success Houston is having, so there is no doubt that he will help Dallas land at least one impact upcoming free agent.
