The Kings cleaned house today. They got rid of the contracts of Nik Stauskas, Jason Thompson, and Carl Landry. They did this so they could clear cap space for hopefully 2 out of 3 targets of theirs: Rajon Rondo, Wes Matthews, or Monta Ellis. The Kings need to be careful and make sure they feel they can land one of these three guys. The Kings are falling into what the Lakers have been going through which is not being an appealing situation. Top guys don't want to be at bad places. Rondo, Matthews, and Ellis aren't all about the money. Even if they are, they can get good money elsewhere.

The Kings better hope this works out for them. The only realistic possibilites this writer sees for the Kings is Rondo. Now, if Rondo goes to Sacramento then this writer would consider the salary dumps a success. But the key isn't as much that the Kings get Rondo, it's highlighting the fail over the last couple of years the Kings have done with moves. Stauskas didn't work out at all, and the Kings are littered with role players around Cousins. Plus, can Coach Karl handle Rondo? This is an honest question that this writer doesn't think possible.

The good news for Kings fans is that the Kings are trying to make moves. In the past, the Kings haven't done anything so it's nice for the league that the Kings are trying to be a better team, that is unless they trade Cousins. Trading Cousins will really put the Kings into the dirt.

All in all this writer thinks the Kings should really target Ellis. Ellis seems to be a nice fit in Sacramento and he may actually like it. He'll have free roam to do what he wants, a potential winning team, and a nice size contract.
