MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Nemanja Bjelica is headed to the NBA. And the Timberwolves are getting another coveted young star.

The 27 year-old Serbian forward has agreed with Minnesota on a three-year, $11.7 million deal that will bring Bjelica to play with a young 'Wolves team that has been working on this acquisition for quite some time.

Bjelica last played in Turkey for Fenerbahçe Ülker, a Euroleague team.

Fenerbahçe man the Euroleague Final Four in 2014-2015, losing to Real Madrid in the semifinals. Bjelica was named the 2015 Euroleague MVP and to the 2015 All-Euroleague First Team.

Bjelica finished with 2014-2015 Euroleague averages of 12.1 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game, both career highs. He also set career-bests in appearances (29), starts (20), and minutes (27.8 MPG). On July 1st, he opted out of his contract with Fenerbahçe to join the NBA.

The 6'10" man also represents the Serbian National Team internationally, and was a member of the 2014 FIBA World Cup team that won the silver medal, losing to the United States in the final. He has played alongside other NBAers Nenad Krstić and Nemanja Nedović, who are both back in Europe now.

Minnesota finished worst in the league in 2014-2015, and actually won the Draft Lottery. GM Milt Newton opted to go for Karl-Anthony Towns, as well as trading for 24th pick Tyus Jones. This solid young core, together with Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, and Gorgui Dieng, could create some really exciting basketball in Minnesota, and could allow for some success reminiscent of KG's early years for the Timberwolves.

Speaking of Kevin Garnett, he is reportedly discussing a new deal with Minnesota, a possibly last NBA run for him. The 39 year-old is a 15-time All-Star, widely considered a top-20 player of NBA history. He holds numerous awards and honors in his name, and ranks 5th all-time in minutes played, 18th in point scored, and 10th in rebounds. KG is 138 minutes away from passing Elvin Hayes for 4th on the minutes leaderboard, 25 points behind Tim Duncan for 17th for scoring, and 132 rebounds behind Duncan for 9th in that category.

With this newly-acquired young core, the T-Wolves have a shot at being elite in the coming few seasons.
