It was reported Monday evening that the Cleveland Cavaliers and point guard Mo Williams have agreed to a two-year, $4.3 million deal. Williams previously played for the Cavaliers from 2008 to 2011. During his first stint with the Cavs they made multiple playoff runs, and he was named an NBA All-Star in 2009. Mo was the Cavs' first addition to the team this offseason.

The reason this deal is such a great one for the Cavaliers is because Williams will come off the bench. When he was previously with the Cavs, he was relied on to be the second option. Let's face it, Mo Williams cannot be your second best player if you’re going to win a championship. This time around, Mo will be a sixth or seventh option. He will come off the bench and run the second unit as the point guard. Not only can he play the one, but he has good enough scoring and shooting abilities to play the two. So, if the Cavs decide to re-sign Matthew Dellavedova, they could both play on the court together.

Williams averaged 17 points last season including a game in which he scored 52. He will serve as a very good bench scorer for the Cavaliers. Also, Kyrie Irving has a history of injuries, and having Williams gives Cleveland security if anything were to happen to Kyrie. If the Cavs can move Brendan Haywood's contract for a good wing scorer and defender, they could compete to have one of the best benches in the NBA.

Their second unit could potentially be Williams, J.R. Smith, (Joe Johnson/Jamal Crawford/other wing player), Tristan Thompson, and Anderson Varejao. For a team that showed a lack of depth in the NBA Finals, this would be a perfect fix.

The Cavaliers are not done making moves, but this one for Mo Williams is a great fit. Reuniting him with old teammates LeBron James and Anderson Varejao will keep the chemistry cool. It is clear that Mo Williams is happy to be a Cavalier again and ready to chase his first NBA title, and Cavs fans are probably excited to have Mo Gottie back in the Wine and Gold.
