The ball was tipped and the 2015 Orlando Summer League Championship was on its way between the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando White.

The Memphis Grizzlies, led by 2014 draft picks Jordan Adams and Jarnell Stokes, were back in the Orlando Summer League Championship for the second year in a row as they survived close calls against Orlando Blue (featuring Aaron Gordon, Elfrid Payton, and Mario Hezonja), Charlotte, and Oklahoma City. While great production was expected from Adams and Stokes, former National Champion at Louisville, Russ Smith, has exceeded expectations by averaging 14.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game for the Grizzlies. In fact, if it were not for Smith making the game-winning shot in overtime earlier in the week versus Orlando Blue, the Grizzlies would not be in today's title game against Orlando White.

Surprisingly, the most dominant team in the Amway Center practice gym this past week has not been Memphis or Miami but Orlando White. Who is Orlando White? Orlando White is a team made up of D-Leaguers and free agents hoping to impress a team to sign them for the upcoming season as none have any affiliation with the Magic. With that being the case, the squad has been the feel good underdog story by winning all four games by an average margin of ten points. Would they be able come out victorious against their toughest test?

In 2014 against the Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis allowed their opponent to throw the first punch. Today, the Grizzlies struck first by running ahead of Orlando White with a 20-6 first quarter lead.

Although the second quarter would start with more of the same as Memphis extended their advantage to sixteen, Orlando White was able to counter and take the lead with a big 24-7 spurt of their own. Washington Wizards' 2011 first-round pick Chris Singleton played a huge role in the comeback by scoring seven of the twenty-four points in addition to shutting down Jarnell Stokes when matched up with him on defense.

Even though White controlled the second quarter, Memphis' Jordan Adams was able to make two free throws and Russ Smith a buzzer-beating trey to take a two-point lead into halftime for the Grizz.

Coming out of the break, Orlando seized momentum with none other than Chris Singleton, who scored five straight points to help his team retake the lead. White forward John Bohannon would later build onto the lead and make it ten with back-to-back layups. Nevertheless, Memphis came storming back with seven straight points to make it a one possession game with eight minutes remaining in regulation.

With their big lead gone, Orlando White immediately turned up the offense's aggressiveness, which resulted in leading scorer Keith Appling re-extending their edge to nine with just under 4:39 left. Memphis looked to be down for the count and would have been if it were not for Tony Crocker.

Tony Crocker, a six-foot, seven-inch forward from Israel, had a very poor first thirty-six minutes of the title game as he was 0 for 1 shooting with no points. But it only matters how one finishes rather than starts as Crocker made three straight field goal attempts in a 13-4 run to tie the game at 73 and force overtime.

In the extra two-minute period, both teams would be unable to put the "biscuit in the basket" sending the game to double overtime a.k.a. "Russ' Time to Shine."

Three days ago, Russ Smith made a floater on the first possession of double overtime to keep his team undefeated against Orlando Blue and today he had no intention of passing away another chance to make a game-winning shot. After Memphis won the jump ball to begin the period, Russ Smith had control at the top of the key and started dribbling left on Orlando's Melvin Ejim. Then, Smith fired a floater that skipped off the front rim and bounced off the backboard before tapping the front rim and falling home for the championship winning basket. Russdiculous had done it again!

With his game winning shot today, Russ Smith finished his day with a team-high fifteen points to go along with nine assists and three steals. For Orlando, Keith Benson, Keith Appling, and Chris Singleton all had very impressive last performances in City Beautiful as all three finished with fifteen-plus points.
