On Friday night, the New York Knicks posted their most impressive preseason performance yet, beating the Washington Wizards 115-104 in the Verizon Center.

The game was back and forth throughout much of the night, as the two East coast teams battled each other not just with their stars, but with all sorts of players. While Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 21 points, four rebounds, and four assists while shooting an efficient 10 of 15 from the floor, role playing big men Derrick Williams and Kyle O'Quinn also made important contributions. Williams, the former Timberwolf and King, pitched in 23 points and four rebounds, shooting a perfect 9 for 9 from the free-throw line. Derrick drove the basket very well, showing his improvements since his weaker first two preseason games. O'Quinn, meanwhile, put up a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes.

For Washington, no one truly stood out, but five Wizards scored in double digits, including Bradley Beal, who had 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists, multiple nifty drives to the hoop, and a fast break jam over Kristaps Porzingis. John Wall dropped 13 points of his own, but he had a plus-minus of -11 in the game. Now, the most eye-popping Wizard in the box score might actually be former Knick Josh Harrellson (aka "Jorts"), who fouled out after just 12 minutes on the floor!

Meanwhile, the rookies tonight had a little bit of everything. Kristaps Porzingis continued to impress, showing his shooting range on a first quarter three, flashing an interior assist to Robin Lopez, and imposing his hustle by poking an offensive board after a Melo miss back to Anthony for a mid-range jumper. Jerian Grant also got a lot of playing time for New York, going 2 of 9 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line, scoring eight points. For Washington, rookie Kelly Oubre Jr. had a miserable night, going 0 for 7 from the field in 25 minutes, failing to score any points.

Overall, the Knicks looked like the better team on Friday, moving the ball nicely and showing that they're actually bigger this year, out-rebounding the Wiz 53 to 39. The 'Bockers also had eight more assists than Washington, and shot a super solid 50 percent from the floor. It will be interesting to see where both of these teams go in the regular season, but for now, they still have some work to do.

Up next, the Knicks will take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night at the Madison Square Garden at 7:30 pm ET, while the Wizards will face Associação Bauru from Sao Paulo, Brazil on Sunday, October 11, at 6 pm ET.
