History has been made! The Golden State Warriors break the record for best start to a season at 16-0 after blowing out the Los Angeles Lakers, 111-77.

These 2015-2016 Warriors have been thirsty despite being crowned champions last year, while the Lakers continue their disappointing season.

The same issues were present tonight for the Lakers, as they did not move the ball around and Kobe Bryant shot poorly from the field once again.

In the first quarter, the Lakers accumulated zero assists and scored just 11 points, playing too much one-on-one. Byron Scott addressed this particular issue after Sunday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, but the team did not respond.

Meanwhile, the Warriors had eight assists on nine makes in the first period and owned a 19-point lead, 30-11.

Lou Williams carried the team during the second stanza, scoring 10 points, but the Lakers weren’t able to cut into the lead too much, going into intermission facing a 16-point deficit. Williams did not score the rest of the way, finishing with those 10 points.

Golden State completely dismantled Los Angeles in the second half behind beautiful ball movement and excellent team balance. By the end of the third period the Warriors had put the game out of reach, possessing a 34-point lead and cruising to victory.

Golden State dominated every facet of the game, going a plus-27 from three-point distance, out-rebounding the Lakers 48-44, scoring 56 points in the paint, and only committing eight turnovers. They also shot 48.9 percent from the floor as opposed to 37.8 percent shooting from L.A.

The Warriors concluded the game with 32 team assists on 45 made baskets. The Lakers finished with 16 assists on 31 makes.

Bryant shot 1 of 14 from the field for four points, tying his worst shooting night which coincidentally came last November. His lone basket was from three-point land, as he also added three turnovers but collected six boards, two assists, and two steals.

He just wasn’t making them…I got faith in Kobe that he’ll be okay, but tonight he was really struggling,” Coach Scott said after the contest. (via Serena Winters)

Bryant’s body continues to fail him, as his shots have been guided by very little elevation due to his age and ailing knees. He has too many miles on his 37-year-old body and evidently cannot lead the team on a nightly basis anymore.

The highest scorers for the Lakers tonight had 10 points each, which were the aforementioned Williams, Julius Randle, and Larry Nance, who actually cracked the rotation tonight after receiving a DNP-CD Sunday evening. Los Angeles also recorded a season-low 77 points.

The Warriors’ balanced attack was led by none other than Stephen Curry who poured in 24 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and two steals, including four three-pointers. Draymond Green did what he does best, filling up the stat sheet with 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two blocks on 7 of 11 shooting.

Leandro Barbosa added 13 points and three steals in 17 minutes off the bench, while Klay Thompson continued to slump, finishing with 11 points on 3 of 12 shooting. Thompson undoubtedly had his best game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, as he has been struggling throughout most of the season.

However even after all that, the Warriors keep piling on the W’s and haven’t lost a regular season game at home since January 27.

The Warriors led wire to wire and their biggest lead of the game was 41. They will look to continue their streak Friday, November 27, when they play host to the Phoenix Suns.

The Lakers drop to 2-12 with the loss and are now on a four-game losing streak. They will receive plenty of rest before taking on the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center on Saturday, November 28 at 10 pm EST.
