VCU's senior guard Briante Weber will miss the Rams' season opener against Tennessee. This suspension comes in light of an iPhone theft allegation. Weber allegedly stole an iPhone valued at $200 from the Cary Street Gym, which is the university’s gym for students and faculty.

In an interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, head coach Shaka Smart said, "Briante has failed to live up to the standards we've set for our program and we are holding him accountable. Part of his discipline includes missed competition. We expect that Briante will act according to the standards of our program moving forward."

Last year for VCU Weber averaged 9.4 points per game along with 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He also led the country in steals with 3.46 per game.  Weber has 296 steals in his career and is only 90 away from setting the all-time record in men's Division I basketball.
