UNLV has received a verbal commitment from Jalen Poyser, a four-star combo guard. Poyser made his announcement via Twitter over the weekend.

Poyser, who attends the Athlete Institute Program in Canada, will bring his 6-4 frame and potent scoring potential to the Runnin’ Rebels next season.

He came on the scene this summer after superb performances at the adidas Nation camp where he averaged over 16 points per game while hitting 57% of his shots. He also showed ability to get to the basket and draw contact, as evidenced by his 7 costless throws per game average at adidas Nation.

Poyser, who played at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada before transferring to Athlete Institute, is ranked in the top 100 among guards, according to 247sports. A Canadian native, Poyser will join Thon Maker, the top prospect in the class of 2016, at AI.

After taking visits to Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure, Poyser chose a school in a familiar location and a basketball program that has shown interest in him from an early age.

UNLV will now field a 2015 roster with Poyser and three current freshmen for head coach Dave Rice.
