Chicago, IL- The Inaugural CBS Sports Classic concluded with a Wildcat domination as Kentucky simply ran UCLA out of the United Center Saturday afternoon in Chicago; Kentucky 83 UCLA 42. The score at halftime was unreal as Kentucky lead UCLA 41-7.

Seven points, the fewest points ever at halftime by UCLA, the previous low was 14.

The stats at the end of the first half were jaw dropping:

UCLA vs #1 Kentucky
3/37 FG 16/35
0/9 3 PT 6/14
1 AST 12
8 TO 4
0 FST BRK PTS 16

Before Kentucky's head coach John Calipari headed into the locker room during halftime, He was asked about what his team will focus on in the second half. Calipari responded, "Just make sure we execute and make sure everybody plays. This half Tyler and Devin will play more they are going to get their 13 minutes in. We're platooning like We've been, we even threw Derek (Willis) and Dominique (Hawkins) in there and they both played well"

Kentucky is a very good team and the way this writer sees it is if they can get past Louisville next week, they will without question go into the tournament undefeated. However, this writer personally feels like if Kentucky is going to lose a game its going to be against a team they don't respect such as a Columbia, a game that isn't made for TV. Unlike todays game where they clearly were in tune and ready to play.

Yours truly caught up with UCLA's head coach Steve Alford after the break and asked him about what he told his team in the locker room and he said, " We just have to keep working, we have to work hard and try to get better"

When Alford was asked how much of it is effort and how much of it is a gap in talent. Alford responded,"Its not effort, we are simply just not executing its the worst guard play we have had the entire season."

Alford was indeed right, however though the guard play wasn't good, it was also the play of simply the entire UCLA team. They were simply overwhelmed, you could see they were shell shocked. It's difficult when you haven't played a team like Kentucky to prepare. Simply because you wont see anyone in the country with really much size and athleticism and activity on the defensive end. You can talk about it all you want but you want to simulate it and if the team cant withstand that early onslaught which was the case here today, its going to be a challenge for this UCLA team to really psychologically deal with this. The type of performance UCLA had today is a type that can stay with a group for an extended period of time, which is something you can't have with 19 games remaining in a season.

UCLA would thankfully score more than seven points the second half, making the final 83-44 in favor of the Wildcats and the entire Big Blue Nation.
