NBA prospect Shawn Long had a huge game, which may help him in the long run, but it was not enough for his team in this game.

Long, a junior forward, was the man of the hour for the University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. Long would finish the game with 22 points and 22 rebounds. He has averaged a double-double for both of his previous years at UL Lafayette. Long out-rebounded the rest of his team in this game 22 to 19. Long did get some help with scoring as Kasey Shepard had 13 points, Jay Wright had 12, and Brian Williams scored 13.

South Alabama lost the rebounding battle but won the game. Guard Ken Williams would lead the way for the Jaguars with 28 points and 7 rebounds. The Jaguars would have four other players score more than 10 points: Abdul Lewis, Dionte Ferguson, Taishaun Johnson, and Georgi Boyanov. Boyanov would score his 14 points off the bench, which always helps a team to have that extra weapon off the bench.

With this game in the books, UL Lafayette is now 10-7 overall and 4-2 in Sun Belt play. The Ragin' Cajuns will take on UL Monroe in their next game. South Alabama used this win to improve to 5-12 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Arkansas Little-Rock will be the next opponent of the Jaguars.
