In a wire-to-wire victory, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits defeated the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles easily by a score of 81-52 at the Frost Arena in Brookings, South Dakota.

Cody Larson was impressive early on in the first half of play scoring seven of his school’s 16 points as SDSU jumped out to a 16-6 lead. Sometimes if a school is shooting poorly, the other school could be shooting poor as well. That was not the case tonight for ORU, unfortunately.

By the time the under 12 media timeout came along, the Golden Eagles were already down by 19, scoring just eight points. A pair of free throws from Darian Harris gave Oral Roberts twenty points. However, the Jackrabbits kept racking up bucket after bucket and ended the half with an astounding 45 points of their own while playing really good defense as well.

The second half was more of the same for both sides. Reed Tellinghuisen made a jumper from beyond the arc to open up SDSU’s scoring after the halftime interval. What was most impressive about tonight was the fact that the home school got everybody involved in the scoring.

George Marshall was really impressive tonight for the Jackrabbits coming away with a team high 17 points, and making five of his nine attempts from beyond the three point line. Cody Larson and Deondre Parks scored 15 and 13 points respectively. But it was Oral Robert’s 6 foot 9 260 pound freshman, Albert Owens who was the most consistent performance as he made 7 of his 14 attempts from the field, including one three pointer, finishing with a game high 18 points.

The Summit League leaders, South Dakota State, will travel to the University of South Dakota next Saturday evening. Meanwhile, Oral Roberts has two more games remaining and their second to last game will be against North Dakota State – the co-leaders – at home.
