Virginia (26-1,14-1) absolutely pounded Wake Forest (12-16,4-11) despite being undermanned. Virginia used a balance effort led by forward Anthony Gill who had 11 points and Darian Atkins who had 10. Those were the only Cavaliers who scored in double figures, but 11 players scored for Virginia.

Wake Forest, who has been competitive at home this year, shot just 21 percent from the field. Only Konstantinos Mitoglou scored in double figures for the Deacs. Devin Thomas, who is second on Wake Forest in scoring, was 1-5 from the field and only scored 2 points.

This has been the story for Virginia all season. They will be in every ball game they play because they give their opponents so little on the offensive end. Despite being without two of their best players in Justin Anderson (finger) and London Perrantes (nose and head) Virginia still dominated this from start to finish. Many people thought this would be a tough position for Virginia since they can be so offensively challenged at times but they proved otherwise.

Virginia remains in the driver’s seat to win the ACC regular season title and also secure #1 seed in the East Region. Virginia should get Perrantes back soon but Justin Anderson remains a question mark. The Cavaliers expect Anderson back for the ACC tournament but this is a tricky injury considering he injured a finger on his shooting hand.

With a win Saturday over in state rival Virginia Tech, Virginia will clinch its second straight ACC title. Wake Forest will have its home finale this weekend against Pittsburgh.
