2015 Sweet 16 March Madness Live Score And Update

The two teams have only met three times on the court in their series history. The most recent came this season. The Gonzaga Bulldogs pulled out an 87-74 win over the UCLA Bruins on December 13, to break the 1-1 series tie.

UCLA has done quite well to ride their offense this far, but it could be the end of a huge run for the Bruins tonight.

Gonzaga met UCLA in the regular season and came out victorious winning by double digits. Expect the Zags to come out swinging with a trip to the Elite Eight, and South Region Finals on the line in tonight's contest.

VAVEL USA Live Score And Update

Kyle Wiltjer, a transfer from Kentucky, collected 24 points with seven rebounds. Domantas Sabonis was able to come off the bench to add 18 points and team best nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Kevin Pagnos added 16 points in the dominant victory over Iowa. Last but not least, you couldn't leave out Gary Bell Jr. rounded out the teams double digit scoreres with 10 points.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs easily took care of a Iowa Hawkeye squad who previously sent Davidson home early in the second round. The Bulldogs connected on 61.5 percent of their shots from the field, including 10-16 3-pointers.

Live Score And Update: UCLA Bruins - Gonzaga Bulldogs

The Bulldogs' path to the Sweet 16 was easier, going through North Dakota State (86-76) and Iowa (87-68) with ease. The 'Zags" sport a perfect 7-0 mark in neutral site games coming into this matchup.

On the flip side, Gonzaga saw themselves seeded at number 2 this year after finishing the season 34-2.

The downfall UCLA could have for this matchup, is their defense. Note, Gonzaga leads the nation in field-goal percentage (52.6 percent) and averages about 80.0 points per game with 41 percent in shooting from beyond the arc.

Althought their offensive may look like an underrated Kentucky B team, their defense has struggled allowing 68.0 ppg to their opponents, while shooting only 41.8 percent from the floor.

If you lineup against the Bruins' starting 5, it's bound to be dangerous. Note, all five starters are averaging scoring totals in double dights. Norman Powell leads the Bruins in points per game (PPG) with 16.5. A drop off with Issac Hamilton (10.6 ppg), and Thomas Welsh (4.0 ppg) is something to keep in mind. UCLA will need to add depth to their game against a face playing Gonzaga team tonight.

Norman Powell wanted some of the spotlight as he weighed in with his 15 points. Issac Hamilton had 13 points with seven assists, and Kevin Looney helped add another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

UCLA Bruins - Gonzaga Bulldogs Live And Score

The Bruins were able to take control of a UAB team, who pulled the first upset at the beginning of the tournament, knocking off Iowa State. UCLA was able to finish that game with a 41-26 edge on the board, and shooting 60.3 percent from the floor offensively, to contain the UAB Blazers. UCLA big man Tony Parker, lead the team with 28 points, 12 rebounds, reaching for a double-double. Bryce Alford, who nailed a remarkable nine three-pointers in their opener against SMU, racked up 22 points, with  five assists.

How did they get to the Sweet 16? Well let's just say it wasn't easy. First, they defeated SMU by a score of 60-59, which was then discussed on a possible goaltending call. They then easily took down UAB, 92-75. This is UCLA's first appearance in the Sweet 16 in program history, when selected as a seed in double digits.

The UCLA Bruins have turned many haters into believers as they won two tournament games so far. It's easy to say that the UCLA Bruins were a controversial basketball program this year, finishing the season 22-13. Nevertheless, they find themselves in the Sweet 16 of the 2015 March Madness Tournament, seeded at 11.
