Maverick Rowan surprised quite a bit of people tonight by telling Scout that he is taking summer courses to reclassify for the 2015 season. He was a 2016 6’7 small-forward, and the Louisville Cardinals is the forgone favorite to land him. St.Johns is rumored as the only other school to have significant interest from Rowan. He was committed to Pittsburgh but decommited a while ago.

Rick Pitino has held onto a single scholarship for next season. He has been holding out for a guy like Rowan to be the final piece of the puzzle. He has been rated a 4-star recruit on many major sports sites like 247Sports, Scout, and ESPN. Rowan is ranked highest on Scout.com where he is 27th overall. He is a tremendous three-point shooter and is very lengthy.

Rowan has currently enrolled in summer classes and has also set an official visit to St.Johns next week. His dad was a college teammate of St.Johns head coach Chris Mullin, which plays a significant factor in his recruitment. It seems to be between two teams, Louisville and St.Johns. It would be wise of Rowan to choose Louisville because he can contribute right away and they are closer to contending for a championship as Mullin is rebuilding a St. Johns program.

The Cardinals would have a loaded wing with Damion Lee, Deng Adel, and possibly Maverick Rowan. It’s worth noting also that Louisville has picked up a commitment from 2016 five-star small-forward V.J King as well. This would be a loaded positon but would provide a much needed scoring punch.

Wherever Maverick Rowan commits, he can provide a scoring spark right away. The Cardinals would use him as a reliable three-point threat off the bench. St.Johns would use him as a building block for their new team. Good luck to Maverick Rowan and wherever he chooses! His commitment to either school should come soon because he has already visited Louisville and will visit St.Johns this week.
