Northern Illinois spent this past week releasing news on future non-conference opponents. The Huskies dubbed this "SchedulePalooza" and it concluded on Friday.

On Tuesday, the Huskies announced that they have scheduled a home-and-home series with the San Diego State Aztecs. The first game the series will be on September 17, 2016 in DeKalb, Illinois. The return trip will be on September 30, 2017 in San Diego. The two teams have met 4 times with San Diego State winning all four matchups. NIU will also play fellow Mountain West opponents UNLV (2014 and 2015) and Wyoming (2015 and 2016).

Wednesday saw the announcement that NIU and Brigham Young would face off in a home-and-home series as well. NIU will travel to Provo, Utah on October 27, 2018 and the two teams will return to DeKalb, Illinois on October 24, 2020. The two teams have never previously met on the gridiron.

On Thursday, NIU and Utah were announced as future non-conference opponents. September 8, 2018 will showcase the two teams in DeKalb, Illinois. The return trip will be on September 7, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Huskies and Utes have never met in football.

The frenzy concluded on Friday with the announcement of a series between Maryland and Northern Illinois in 2020 and 2021. NIU will travel to College Park, Maryland on September 12, 202. Maryland will travel to Huskie Stadium on September 25, 2021. The Terps and Huskies have met three times, including the 2003 matchup that saw the NIU upset then #15 Maryland by a score of 20-13. Maryland won the following year 23-20. Maryland also won in 1996 30-6 and leads the overall series 2-1 over the Huskies.
