Just a day after suffering an injury to his leg, Vernon Hargreaves has been diagnosed with a bone bruise. It was not known how severe the injury was after it happened, but an MRI on Friday revealed it was not serious.

Hargreaves was injured when he made knee-on-knee contact with another player during Thursday evening's practice. He was helped off the practice field via a cart, which stoked fears of a major injury.

Head coach Will Muschamp conveyed to reporters that the bone bruise happened before a scuffle broke out between wide receivers and defensive backs.

Hargreaves will be an important part of the Gators' defense. He was named as a Third-team All-American in 2013 as a true freshman. For the 2013 season, Hargreaves recorded 38 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions. Hargreaves was also named to the All-SEC First Team during preseason.

Florida will begin their season on August 30 versus the Idaho Vandals.
