As expected, Northern Illinois ripped Presbyterian with ease, winning by a final score of 55-3. Joel Bouagnon was the player who made the biggest splash by rushing for 4 touchdowns. The entire offense got in the act, as they racked up a total of 635 yards with 424 of those via the ground game.

Matt McIntosh got the start for the Huskies and he threw a 39 yard touchdown pass to Da'Ron Brown to get the scoring started. A field goal by Tyler Wedel was followed by Bouagnon's first touchdown of the game late in the first quarter to make it 17-0 after the first quarter.

The Huskies added another 17 points in the second quarter thanks to two more touchdown runs by Bouagnon and a field goal by Wedel. The Huskies added their final 21 points in the third quarter while Presbyterian got their only points with a 31 yard field goal by Brandon Morrow in the dying second of the third quarter.

All three quarterbacks in the conversation for the top spot played in the game for Northern Illinois. Matt McIntosh started the game, finishing with 10 of 14, 87 yards, and 1 touchdown. McIntosh finished with 27 rushing yards on 4 carries. Drew Hare went 8 of 13 for 100 yards and 1 touchdown while also rushing for 51 yards on 5 carries. Anthony Maddie also got some playing time, going 1 of 4 for 24 yards through the air and having 51 yards rushing on 9 carries.

Akeem Daniels was the leading rusher for Huskies with 118 yards on 15 carries. Bouagnon finished with 97 yards rushing to go along with the 4 touchdowns.

Da'Ron Brown led the team with 91 yards receiving and 1 touchdown. Juwan Brescacin caught 2 passes for 53 yards and 1 touchdown.

The NIU defense was stellar throughout, save for the field goal. They gave up a total of 127 yards to Presbyterian, only allowed 1 third down conversion on 12 attempts, and forced three turnovers. One area of concern was the field goal unit, which only converted two of their 4 attempts.

Presbyterian gets a reprieve next week, as they face Bluefield College.

Northern Illinois has a big game next week when they travel to Evanston, Illinois to face Northwestern. The game is scheduled for 3:30 PM Eastern Time and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
