The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners capitalized on a sloppy performance from the Houston Cougars to deliver a big 27-7 win. Houston committed six turnovers in the loss.

Both teams started very slowly on offense with neither team getting past midfield until halfway through the first quarter. A botched snap on the punt was not properly corralled Dylan Seibert, which gave UTSA the ball at the Houston 3 yard line. David Glasco II punched the ball in on the next play to give UTSA a 7-0 lead.

Houston did put together a solid drive in response. They got down to the UTSA 24 yard line, but quarterback John O'Korn could not pick up the first down on fourth and 10.

Houston had another drive, this time deeper into UTSA territory as they got down to the 15 yard line. A tipped ball into the air was intercepted near the goal line by UTSA's Triston Wade and ended the Houston scoring threat.

Houston's next drive was over in one play, as O'Korn was intercepted by Crosby Adams III and brought back to the Houston 37 yard line. However, UTSA would not pose a threat to score and gave the ball back to Houston.

UTSA's  Sean Ianno missed a 47 yard field goal, but UTSA would have another chance near the end of the half. David Glasco II punched in another touchdown run, this time from 2 yards out and UTSA led 14-0 after the break.

UTSA received the ball after halftime and made another statement to put Houston on their heels. A solid 13 play, 60 yard drive was finished when Jarveon Williams ran for an 11 yard touchdown.

It got better, as O'Korn threw yet another interception on the next drive for Houston. UTSA added a 36 yard field goal from Ianno to make it 24-0. O'Korn threw a fourth interception early in the fourth quarter, which killed yet another Cougars drive close to the red zone.

UTSA added a 30 yard field goal via Ianno and a late garbage time 2 yard touchdown run from Ryan Jackson gave Houston a somewhat more respectable scoreline.

John O'Korn had a terrible game. He went 21 of 43 for 204 yards and those 4 interceptions. Backup Billy Cosh came in and went 4 of 7 for 30 yards with no turnovers. Houston had a horrible game offensively, as noted by the negative 26 yards rushing and the meager 208 yards of total offense. Deontay Greenberry led the Cougars in receiving with 6 catches for 96 yards.

UTSA's Tucker Carter did not have a good game statistically, but he did manage the game well. He went 15 of 24 for 121 yards, but did not commit any turnovers. David Glasco II ran for 81 yards and 2 touchdowns.

UTSA will take on Arizona in the Alamodome next week. Arizona crushed UNLV on Friday night and that sets up a tantalizing game next week. That game will be on Thursday, September 4.

For Houston, it is time to regroup on offensive. There is no better chance than next week when they face Grambling State. It is a perfect opportunity to work out the kinks before the schedule gets tougher again.
