Iowa State took an early 14-0 lead, but it was all North Dakota State after that, as they scored 34 unanswered points to end the game. The three-time defending FCS champions beat Iowa State 34-14 after excellent performances by Carson Wentz and John Crockett.

Iowa State started well with a 10 play, 75 yard drive to start the game. Aaron Wimberly scored from 16 yards out to give Iowa State the 7-0 lead. NDSU had a good drive into Iowa State territory, but it stalled out and led to a punt.

Iowa State's first drive of the second quarter was a quick one. Highly touted receiver Allen Lazard caught a 48 yard pass from Sam B. Richardson to give the Cyclones the ball on the 3 yard line. Wimberly added his second rushing touchdown, this one from 3 yards out.

It took all of one offensive play for the Bison to respond. John Crockett took the ball 80 yards to the house and the lead was cut in half at 14-7. Two drives later for NDSU, Crockett was in the end zone again, this one from a yard out. Just like that, it was a tie ball game at 14. NDSU's Adam Keller got a 19 yard field goal as time expired in the first half to make it a 17-14 game.

NDSU had a three-and-out to star the second half, but their next two drives produced 10 points in 21 yard field goal from Keller and then Crockett's third rushing touchdown of the game from 3 yards out.

Chase Morlock added the exclamation point when he ran for a 66 yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.

The Bison have now won 5 straight games against FBS competition. The win over Iowa State was also their 25th straight victory.

Other than the first quarter, North Dakota State dominated the game. Carson Wentz completed 18 of 28 passes for 204 yards and no turnovers. John Crockett ran for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns. Chase Morlock added 81 yards and a touchdown on 6 carries. Zach Vraa led the team with 82 yards on 7 catches. The Bison racked up 503 yards of total offense and committed no turnovers.

Iowa State had a tough game on both sides of the ball. Sam B. Richardson threw for only 151 yards and 2 interceptions on 20 of 31 passing. He also ran for 58 yards on 15 carries. Aaron Wimberly had 38 yards and those 2 touchdowns on 9 carries. Lazard led the team with that one 48 yard catch, but he produced little more than that on the day.

North Dakota State will face Weber State next week on the road in Ogden, Utah. Iowa State opens their Big 12 slate against Kansas State next week. The game is in Ames, but that is little consolation if they play poorly again next week.
