Different year, same result. In 2013, BYU ran for 550 yards en route to a 40-21 victory over Texas. In 2014, BYU only had 429 yards of total offense, but the result was the same: a clobbering of the Texas Longhorns. The final score on Saturday night was 41-7, which looks only worse than last year's result.

The game started lively enough with both teams have a chance to get the opening points. BYU had a fourth and 1 at Texas' 30 yard line, but the pass was incomplete by Taysom Hill. The ensuing drive for Texas ended with Nick Rose missing a 43 yard field goal.

BYU finally opened the scoring with Trevor Samson's 21 yard field goal. The only other score of the first half came when Samson hit a 29 yard field goal midway through the second quarter to make it 6-0.

The second half brought the onslaught of BYU's offensive dominance in this game. Taysom Hill made a wonderful 30 yard touchdown run that included leaping over a defender to make the score 13-0. Adam Hine would add a 16 yard touchdown run on the next drive to make it 20-0.

Hill added another touchdown run from 2 yards out and then Marcus Johnson's fumble led to Hill's third rushing touchdown four plays after the lost fumble. Just like that, BYU blew open the game from 20-0 to 34-0.

Texas did respond with a nice 13 yard touchdown pass by Tyrone Swoopes to John Harris, but it was far too little and far too late.

Adam Hine added a touchdown in the fourth quarter from 8 yards out to end the scoring at 41-7.

Hill finished the game with 181 yards and an interception on 18 of 27 passing. He also ran for 99 yards and 3 touchdowns on 24 carries. Jamaal Williams came back from his suspension to add 89 yards on 19 carries. Jordan Leslie caught 7 passes for 85 yards to lead the Cougars receivers on the night.

Swoopes did not have a great game, but it could have been a lot worse in his first collegiate start. He went 20 of 31 for 176 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He was bottled up all night as well when he attempted to run. He had 7 carries for 7 yards in the game.

Johnathan Gray finished the game with 47 yards on 14 carries. Malcolm Brown only mustered 28 yards on 14 carries. The leading receiver was John Harris with 8 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown.

BYU (2-0) will have a quick turnaround, as they face the Houston Cougars (1-1) on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, for Texas, they have a long way to go before they are back on near the top of college football. They will face UCLA (2-0) next week at home. UCLA has their own issues after two unconvincing wins against Virginia and Memphis.
