The Louisville Cardinals had their chances to defeat the upset minded Virginia Cavaliers, but came up short by only two points 23-21. However, a loss is a loss and it does not matter what team you are playing. You have to come out and play your "A" game for the entire game. Not just one quarter or for one half. It needs to be for the entire game.

This was Virginia's first upset win since 2011 when they defeated then number 23 ranked Florida State 14-13. "It's been a long time coming," said Virginia head coach Mike London. The Cavs' played host in front of 34,816 faithful fans at Scott Stadium and they did not upset the fans. However, they did upset Louisville.

When the clock hit double zeros on the scoreboard the student section emptied and rushed the field --- seems as if that is now a tradition in College Football when a unranked team defeats a ranked opponent. "I wanted this win, this game, so bad," said London in a tearful interview. He gathered himself and then said, "I wanted this game more the players."

This win for UVa is a huge victory for the program and possibly a stepping stone as well. Quarterback Greyson Lamber went 13-for-24 in the passing game throwing 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Once UVa took the 23-21 lead late in the fourth quarter, they never looked back. Virginia will look to be the team to put themselves on the map again next week when they travel to Provo, Utah to take on number 25 ranked Brigham Young.

Louisville's Will Gardner did not have a good game throwing as he completed 14 passes on 34 attempts with 2 interceptions. He did have 2 throwing touchdowns that almost gave Louisville the win. But it was the late fumbled punt by Louisville that was recovered by Kelvin Rainey recovered at the Louisville 25, in just four short plays it was a 42-yard field goal that ultimately sealed the fait of the game for the Cardinals.

"This is one of the most emotional games I have ever had," said senior linebacker Henry Coley. On the other hand Petrino said, "we just didn't make enough plays to win." He was right. They made just enough to lose the game and possibly fall out of the AP Top 25.
