Purdue ran out to a 25-0 lead on Saturday before coasting to victory over Southern Illinois, 35-13. Danny Anthrop's 106 yards receiving helped lead the Boilermakers.

Malcolm Agnew's fumble on the Salukis' first possession ended up leading to the first points of the game. It took six plays for Purdue to get to the end zone with Danny Etling throwing a 10 yard touchdown pass to DeAngelo Yancey to take the 7-0 lead.

Another turnover by Southern Illinois, this one being an interception by Landon Feichter of Mark Iannotti's pass, led to another touchdown. It took one play for Purdue to capitalize with Etling finding Anthrop for the 44 yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead.

After a missed 47 yard field goal by SIU, Purdue would tack on one of their own from 30 yards with Paul Griggs' kick going through to make it 17-0 after the first quarter.

After a poor punt and penalty by SIU gave Purdue the ball at the 26 yard line, Purdue would add another touchdown. Etling ran in from a yard out and Brandon Cottom's rush on the two point conversion led to a 25-0 lead.

Thomas Kinney had a 30 yard field goal for SIU before Paul Griggs added a second field goal, this one from 29 yards out. The score at halftime was 28-3.

Raheem Mostert's fumble on Purdue's first drive of the third quarter did lead to a bit of hope for the Salukis. Mark Iannotti ran the ball in for a one yard score to make it 28-10. Thomas Kinney's second 30 yard field goal brought the game within 28-13, but that would be as close as SIU would get for the remainder of the game.

Purdue had a chance to put points on the board, but their attempt on fourth and goal from the 2 resulted in a four yard loss. Purdue capped the scoring later in the fourth quarter when Austin Appleby ran for an 11 yard touchdown to make it 35-13.

Mark Iannotti had a respectable game going 24 of 45 for 248 yards and an interception. The Salukis could not run the ball effectively with only 82 yards on 28 carries. Malcolm Agnew was the leading rusher with 31 yards on 11 carries.
