Jay Ajayi rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns as the Boise State Broncos routed the visiting Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns 34-9 in a non-conference match-up.

While Ajayi scored twice in the first quarter, the Broncos defense limited ULL to just a field goal through the first three quarters of the game. Boise State quarterback Grant Hedrick threw for 237 yards and back-up running back Devan Demas added the other touchdown for the Broncos, who are now 3-1 on the year. Hedrick hit on all 15 of his attempts to start the game and had nearly 200 yards through the air in the first half.

Matt Miller caught 5 passes for 107 yards, extending his streak of games with at least one catch to 43 straight games. He has yet to play a game for Boise State without hauling in a pass.

Boise State took a 21-3 lead into halftime and was never challenged in the second half by the visiting Cajuns. The Broncos extended their lead to 31-3 before allowing a meaningless touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Dan Goodale rounded out BSU’s scoring with two field goals.

ULL entered the contest averaging over 200 yards on the ground, but the Broncos defense held the Cajuns to a total of 63.

Boise State ran over the Louisiana-Lafayette defense early in the game and never faced adversity on the offensive side of the ball. Ajayi amassed 120 yards in the first half alone.

The schedule now tightens up for the Broncos as they travel to face Mountain West foe Air Force next Saturday to begin conference play.
