Boulder— Under the lights, a rainy Folsom Field could not stop the Ducks from swimming past the Colorado Buffaloes.

In previous years, this game would not have even been talked about considering how good the Oregon Ducks have been and how awful Colorado has played. 2015 brings two completely different types of seasons that each team has been used to in the past. Oregon, who entered 2-2, is not ranked in the Top 25 and has struggled. Colorado, who entered 3-1, won a total of two games in 2014 and have begun to figure out who they are.

Things got off to a rocky start for the Ducks as several members of the team got stuck in an elevator at the team hotel before even arriving at the stadium. After they had arrived and went through warmups, the game was delayed due to intense lightening and weather in the area. Needless to say, Saturday night in Boulder would be different than what had been seen before when these two teams meet.

Both teams got on the board in the first quarter on the ground. Ducks running back Royce Freeman ran for a 29-yard touchdown to put Oregon up 7-0. Buffalo’s running back Christian Powell muscled his way into the endzone for a two-yard score to knot the contest up at 7-7.

Words that would not have been thought about in years passed happened early in the second half: Colorado had a lead on Oregon 14-7 after quarterback Sefo Liufau dropped an eight-yard touchdown pass into the arms of wide receiver Shay Fields.

The Ducks quickly answered the call from the Buffaloes and tossed a touchdown pass themselves. Quarterback Bralon Addison connected with wide receiver Charles Nelson from 39-yards out to tie the score at 14-14.

Both teams exchanged field goals at the end of the quarter to send the game to the half tied at 17.

Oregon took over in the third quarter and went up two scores on the Colorado defense. Freeman swaggered his way into the endzone from three yards out and Taj Griffin went in from two yards out to give the Ducks a 31-17 lead.

Colorado came back swinging in the fourth quarter and answered the back-to-back touchdown runs with a Liufau eight-yard run for a score to bring the score to 31-24.

That would be all Colorado could muster on Saturday night offensively.

Oregon would score in the middle of the fourth quarter on a 47-yard Taylor Allie touchdown pass to Jalen Brown to push the lead to 38-24. Oregon would add a late field goal to make the final score 41-24.

Oregon would use three quarterbacks in Saturday’s win. Combined, Allie, Addison, and Jeff Lockie, the three completed 13 passes on 21 attempts for 176 yards and two touchdowns. The Ducks added 361 yards and three touchdowns on the ground mostly credited to the two-headed monster of Freeman and Griffin.

Quarterback Sefo Liufau was the offensive highlight again for the Buffs completing 25 passes on 42 attempts for 231 yards and a passing touchdown. Liufau added a seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Colorado (3-2) will travel to the desert to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils (3-2) on Saturday, Oct. 10. Kick-off is slated for 10 p.m. EST and can be seen on the PAC-12 Network.
